The government FNRJ on 30.8. 1948 came up with a resolution that founded the FEDERAL SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH INSTITUTE FOR THE ADRIATIC CULTURES.

The task of the INSTITUTE is as follows:

research conditions for plant reproduction in the Adriatic coastal area

give expert thoughts in regards to results of scientific research

give information and suggestions for enhancement of the Adriatic region

cooperate with appropriate scientific departments in the country and abroad

work on elevating the professionalism of the staff

report research results

By the same decision to the INSTITUTE belong the stations in Kastel Stari and Dubrovnik, the Department for southern cultures in Topolica-Bar and the olive growing station in Fazana.
