Prizes and international recognitions





Eng. Anaklet Gazzara, in the competition "Association de Olivareros de Espania" in 1925, had received a special award for the showing of his work on analysis of olive oil. For the modality of an apparatus for determining alcohol and volatile acids in wine eng. Gazzara was awarded a golden necklace and a diploma at the Adriatic exposition in 1925. A few years later eng. Gazzara modified Bertrands method for determining sugar levels in urine and applied it in analysing sugar levels in wine, and then worked out the principles of new methods for determining sugar and saccharine levels in wine.

In 1930 entomologist Petar Novak was ordained for his accomplishments in the field of entomology. To the same author, the district Assembly in Split (1968) gave a "Lifetime achievement award" for his contribution in the development of the science of entomology.

The department for plant protection received a diploma for their scientific research, and in 1974 in the context of the 80th anniversary of the Institute it received the "Split City Award"

"The golden plaque of the city of Split" was given to the Institute for their eighty years of work in 1974.

The annual awards "Slobodna Dalmatia" for scientific work were received by:

Dr. Alexander Vlasic for a monograph on "Morphological, cellular, physiological sterility of olive sorts" 1980

Dr. Peter Males for the monograph "Plavac"(Blue) 1981

Eng. Ante Jelavic for the monograph "The nature of rocky terrain and rocky pastures" 1982

Mr. Slavko Perica received the first prize form the "Associazione culturale per la valorizzazione dell'olivo- Ennio Andreucci" Castellare di Pescia, Italy, for the scientific work "The influence of summer application of nitrogen and potassium on the growth of the bulge, development of the fruit, chemical composition of the leaf and fruit, and the flowering of the Manzanillo olive sort" in 1992.
